Canada Square is a 6,800 square meter park at the heart
of Canary Wharf at London Docklands. Like the other
parks and open spaces that Olin Partnership has designed
at Canary Wharf, this park was built on structure. Canada
Square is on the roof of a shopping center and a multilevel
garage. The southern half of the park is bounded by
a serpentine path, and contains an informal arranged
mix of North American trees. The southern half of the
park botanically represents the New World, the northern
half of the park represents the Old by the use of Horsechestnut
trees formally arranged in a double row. All the trees
used in the park were large, semi-mature specimens.
In addition to the trees, the park contains a large
central lawn, beds of seasonal flowers, a restaurant,
and furnished terraces. |
